MOON STORY
learning objectives: Year three students will include writing and images to express and develop in some detail experiences, events, information, ideas and characters. They demonstrate understanding of grammar and choose vocabulary and punctuation appropriate to the purpose and context of their writing. In this case the purpose and context is science and they are learning about moon phases. They will also leaner about night and day and how the earth rotates.

Expected areas of learning: This task integrates english writing skills and earth and space sciences.
Details of the task: Students are to use the prompt to write and create their own story involving the moon phases. They must include the characters and setting of the prompt and use them effectively to showcase their knowledge of the moon phases. Students will be provided with the worksheet with the prompt and also a page explaining and teaching them about the different moon phases. Students use both of these resources to create their own story whilst learning about the moon phases and at the end to motivate the students to try their best have them read their stories to the class which helps with their public speaking skills.
