SPACE RAP
Learning objective: Students will learn that the Earth is part of a system of planets orbiting around a star (the sun). This will refine and improve students ability to communicate ideas, explanations and processes in a variety of ways.
Expected areas of learning: Language and literacy skills, music performance, and science.
Details of the task: In this activity students should be separated into groups of two and make up a rap about any of the planets or the sun.
They will have to research facts and information about their chosen planet and then try and find a creative and imaginative way to link the information and make it flow so it is not disjointed to rap. Students will also have to make sure the rap makes sense and they are not just linking random terms together, they will have to understand what it means. For inspiration and to motivate and excite the students show the two videos below to see how you can creatively make a rap about space that is engaging and catchy.
Assessment: See if the students worked efficiently together in pairs and were able to create a rap that was engaging and flowed. Also if they followed the task and included lots of space terms and facts. You can also assess the length of the rap to decide if they used their time effectively.
